
Vice-President Michael Niemeier
Biography

Michael Niemeier was born in Hildesheim in 1960. After passing his Abitur, he read law in Mannheim.
Having entered the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) in 1991, Michael Niemeier held several senior positions in its Directorates-General of Constitutional Law/Law relating to the Organisation of the State and Police Issues between 1993 and 1999. Subsequently, between 1999 and June 2009, he filled various positions, such as deputy head of section, head of section and advisor, i. a. for the French Minister of the Interior Alliot-Marie in Paris.
In July 2009, Michael Niemeier was appointed Director at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), as head of its Department for International Co-ordination at the BKA's site in Berlin (until June 2016). After returning to BMI in July 2016, he held the position of head of section G 3 ("International Affairs") and was at the same time the Ministry's commissioner for North Africa.
Since 21 January 2019, Michael Niemeier has been one of BfV's Vice-Presidents.
